The World’s Largest Standing Lion Sculpture arrived in Charlotte and was greeted by the WCNC-News 6 helicopter team as it entered Charlotte on Interstate 77.

The Learning Society of Queens Presents
General Anthony Zinni, USMC (Ret)

Most recently, Zinni was a contributor in an environmental report issued by Alexandria, Va. based national security think tank CNA Corporation, according to an associated press article published in the April 16 issue of The Charlotte Observer. The report warns of a future of rampant disease, water shortages and flooding that could make already vulnerable areas, such as the Middle East, Asia and Africa even worse.

Friends of Music at Queens has announced that Chatham County Line will return to Queens University of Charlotte to perform during the University’s Sesquicentennial year.
Chatham County Line, a native North Carolina bluegrass band, includes Dave Wilson, John Teer, Chandler Holt and Greg Readling. Incorporating genre-bending country forms with deft picking and spot-on harmonies, Chatham County Line has a refreshing interpretation on the bluegrass style.

As the featured speaker at the annual Friends of the Library at Queens’ Fall Event, Dr. Whalen will be presenting excerpts from his third book, "Sacred Spring: God and the Birth of Modernism in Fin de Siecle Vienna," released in April by Eerdmans Publishing Company. Written in an engaging narrative style, this book presents and examines Viennese culture and the era around the beginning of the 20th Century.

Friends of the Library Hosts Author Donald McCaig

“Gone With the Wind” aficionados take heed. The Friends of the Library at Queens, in conjunction with Park Road Books, is bringing Author Donald McCaig to the University’s campus for a special engagement to discuss his latest novel, “Rhett Butler’s People,” the long-awaited novel that parallels the epic masterpiece, “Gone With the Wind.” Mr. McCaig will be available to sign copies of his book and books which will be on sale at the event.
