Out & About is an occasional series that highlights the best Charlotte has to offer in arts and culture, entertainment, outdoor recreation, sports, dining, and shopping.
If you've got a craving for something sweet, there's no better spot than Amelie's French Bakery. Tucked away in the bohemian neighborhood of NoDa, it's a home away from home for students, politicians, entrepreneurs, artists, musicians, civic leaders, architects and business people.
So how good is it, really? Remember the scrumptious pastries eaten by Peeta (and ignored by Katniss) on the train to the Capital in The Hunger Games? The movie was filmed in North Carolina and the pastries came from Amelie's. The "don't miss" item: a salted caramel brownie which people come to enjoy from all corners of the Carolinas.
"The NoDa art scene is awesome. I do my homework at Amelie's two to three times a week because of the 24-7 bakery."

Open 24 hours per day, Amelie's is known for its shabby-chic interior and ample lounging space. It's a hub for night owls, early birds and everyone in between.
Funky, inclusive, eclectic and delicious. Bring some books to study or just hang out and play a board game with some friends.
