Out & About - U.S. National Whitewater Center
Out & About is an occasional series that highlights the best entertainment, arts and culture that our vibrant city has to offer.

Queens students can get out of their residence halls and enjoy some fresh air at the U.S. National Whitewater Center in southwest Charlotte. Conveniently located 20 minutes from campus, the Whitewater Center has a variety of outdoor amenities:
For thrill-seeking students the Canopy Tour is the newest addition to the center. It guides participants on a zip line through the tree canopies above the wetlands delta and along the banks of the Catawba River. Completing the tour, participants drop off on a rappel style free fall that overlooks the river.
For beginner outdoor explorers, free biking classes are offered weekly throughout the year including a guided trail ride and a short bike clinic. All experience levels are welcome.
The Whitewater Center also hosts monthly events when guests can participate in wine and craft beer tastings, live music and film festivals.
Unlimited access to all water and land sports is available by purchasing a season pass for $149-$159 dollars for a full year. Daily passes are offered for all water and land sports (all sports pass - $49), land sports only (cool sports pass - $34) or one land activity only (quick sport pass $15-$25).
Queens students are offered a reduced rate of $31.85 for an all sports pass with their student ID.
