The Center for Active Citizenship (CAC) has been established to serve as resource center for existing Queens’ community projects by tracking hours, evaluating inclusion, equity and trust.
The Center for Active Citizenship (CAC) strives to empower members of our community; students (traditional aged and nontraditional aged), faculty, staff and alumni to be authentically engaged citizens on campus, off campus, and throughout the world. The CAC bridges the academic and civic missions of the University to live out its motto, "Not to be served, but to serve" by:
- Coordinates partnerships with local communities and community organizations with a specific emphasis on access, inclusion, equity and trust.
- Provides a resource center that connects students, faculty, staff and alumni with community needs to help bring about systemic change.
- Coordinates and supports a wide variety of civic engagement opportunities for students (traditional and non-traditional), faculty, staff and alumni including volunteering, community-based activism, and organizing for social change.
- Encourages the University community to document and regularly increase the size and scope of its involvement in civic engagement.
