Overview

Gilda Morina Syverson has been teaching memoir writing classes and workshops at Queens for 14 years. She has taught in the Creative Arts for more than 35 years and was a 2010 Novello Literary Award Finalist for her memoir Finding Bottom, an Italian-American Woman's Journey to the Old Country. Her award-winning family stories and poems have appeared in literary journals, magazines and anthologies in the United States and Canada. Gilda's two poetry collections, Facing the Dragon and In This Dream Everything Remains Inside, were published by Main Street Rag.  She has an MFA from Southern Illinois University and is a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner. 

Memoir Writing - Session 1
In this highly individualized critique class that meets once a month for four months, we will read and revise stories that you have already started writing. Former students have been published, accepted into Masters in Fine Arts (MFA) programs, and crafted stories for family members now and in the future. Class size is limited. Bring in 9 copies of 2-3 double spaced pages of your story, plus a journal or a notebook.

Session 1 (4 classes) - Feb 13, March 13, April 10, May 8th, 6-9pm

You will be contacted with a confirmation and parking information after you register for a course online.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: There is a $50 cancellation fee. Cancellations that are received at least 10 business days prior to the first day of class will receive a refund, minus the $50 cancellation fee. No refunds or make-up classes will be given after that time. If you do not officially withdraw from or attend a course, you are still responsible for the payment. If the course is canceled for any reason, you will be notified and your entire tuition fee will be refunded.
