Assessment of Academic Programs
Assessment plans for each academic program must include three to four intended student learning outcome objectives. Each objective should have one or two well defined methods of assessment that will be used, with clear criteria for success. Assessment plans are due each year by the end of the spring semester. Intended student learning outcomes are entirely the decision of the responsible department or committee as long as they are clear, measurable, and limited to no more than four per year.
Academic reports must include the actual assessment results for each means of assessment, as well as the department's decisions on how they will use those results to improve the educational program. The use of assessment results is entirely the decision of the responsible department or committee as long as they are clearly based on the actual assessment data obtained and related to the original goals for student learning outcomes. Academic assessment reports are due annually by the end of the spring semester and should be submitted to the Assessment Liaison assigned to each school/college.
Assessment of Administrative Services
Assessment plans for administrative units are due June 1 for the coming year. They must include three to five goals to be assessed. These expected results generally involve the level of services provided to faculty, staff, students, and other constituents of the university. Assessment plans should include a brief description of the initiatives to be undertaken in order to better reach the expected result. Each expected result should have one or two well defined means of assessment that will be used, along with a clear criteria for success for each assessment method.
Assessment reports for administrative units are due annually by June 1. They must include the actual results of assessment - the data collected - for each means of assessment, as well as the administrative office's decision as to how they will use those results to better meet their objectives in the future. All assessment plans and reports should be submitted to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning.
