Tau Upsilon Alpha Honor Society
Tau Upsilon Alpha is the National Honor Society in Human Services. On April 13, 2008, Queens University held the induction ceremony for the Tau chapter of Tau Upsilon Alpha, making the chapter one of the founding chapters of the national Organization for Human Services (NOHS). The purposes of Tau Upsilon Alpha are "to honor academic excellence; to foster lifelong learning, leadership and development; and to promote excellence in service to humanity." Tau Upsilon Alpha chapters are operated by student officers and faculty advisors. In order to qualify for Tau Upsilon Alpha, a Human Service studies major or alumni must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, and be ranked in the top 35% of their Human Service Studies class. They must have completed at least the equivalent of three full-time semesters of courses leading to a baccalaureate degree, and have shown evidence of awareness of the value of leadership and service to a successful career in human services. The Tau chapter invites new members each spring.
If you need more information, Saundra Penn is the faculty advisor.
