Janice McRorie teaches pediatric nursing and leadership at Queens University of Charlotte's Presbyterian School of Nursing. She also has practiced as a neonatal nurse since the 1970s. She earned a master of science in nursing with a minor in education.
She traveled to Switzerland, France and Germany to learn about health care in other countries.
She has received awards for her teaching, including Instructor of the Year in 1994 and for Faculty Excellence in 1995. She has served as an item writer for the NCLEX exam for nurses and also for the National League of Nursing testing. Her nursing awards include "Great 100 Nurses of North Carolina" in 1995, and she was elected to the N.C. Board of Nursing four times, for a total of 12 years served. She also was chair in 1999, 2000 and 2003.
She recently finished two years as president of the Mecklenburg Council of Nursing Organizations, and currently serves as secretary of Sigma Theta Tau and the N.C. Council of Associate Degree Nurses.
