Refine Your Aesthetic

Explore the many facets of visual art through inspiring courses led by faculty who bring a wealth of experience as professional artists. The department offers majors in Art History, Studio Art, New Media Design and Interior Design, providing students with a technical ability for expression as well as a contextual understanding of the history of art.

Charlotte’s robust and growing artistic and cultural community is a great asset to Queens’ art students, providing outstanding internship and apprenticeship opportunities at world-class museums, galleries, interior design firms, advertising and graphic arts agencies, and even with local artists.

In making art, defending your own work and studying the creative process, you will develop critical and creative thinking skills while mastering a theoretical and practical understanding of aesthetic judgments.

We look forward to nurturing your understanding of art, and seeing your imagination take shape, whether it be on paper, canvas, cloth, or clay, or captured by camera or computer.

Using Your Art Degree

Many art majors go on to graduate studies in a wide variety of disciplines, including architecture, law, fine arts and business administration.  Others go directly into the world of work, building successful careers as artists, conservationists, curators, graphic designers, animators, art dealers, gallery directors, interior designers, marketers, teachers and college professors.
