Shawn Bowers Buxton has published poetry under the pen name, Anita Cantillo. Her work has appeared in Convergence, Iodine Poetry Journal, and Borderlands: Texas Poetry Review.

Previous to working at Queens, Shawn was a high school English teacher and the Creative Director of a branding firm, where she named pharmaceutical drugs and consumer goods for launch in the public marketplace.

She earned a B.A. in Corporate Communications and an M.F.A in Creative Writing for Poetry, both from Queens.
