Dr. Dorothy H. McGavran has been a member of the Queens faculty since 1987. A specialist in things Romantic and Victorian, she has been known to serve tea and cucumber sandwiches in her office and during classes. She was the first recipient of the Hunter-Hamilton Love of Teaching Award and has also received the Fuqua Distinguished Educator Award.
She teaches British Literature 1660 to Present, Introduction to World Literature, 19th Century British Literature, The Novel, Southern Literature, and in the Core Program in the Liberal Arts.
