Marion Bruner earned her B.A. and M.A. in English Literature from UNC-Charlotte. She began teaching at Queens in 2007. She also teaches in the American Studies Department at UNCC.

She teaches Freshman Writing, Women Writers, and is the Interim Director of the Freshman Writing Program.

She has presented papers at the Southern Writer's Symposium , and the NTE Convention.

Her research interests include Southern  and Appalachian literature, and African-American literature.
