Bill Means is Director of Internships and Career Programs and Instructor of Education
Bill Means has more than 19 years in the field of career development. He has a bachelor of science degree in Psychology from Tennessee State University, and a master of arts degree in Adult Education, with a concentration in Higher Education Administration from NC A&T State University. He has a certificate in management from the National Association of Colleges and Employers. Most recently, he has worked as Managing Director for INROADS/Charlotte, Inc., a non-profit organization placing and developing interns for major corporations, such as Wachovia, Bank of America, Pfizer, Lockheed Martin, Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers, General Dynamics, MetLife, Travelers and Lowe’s Home Improvement. He has served as Director of Health Careers Minority Workforce Development at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He serves on the Board of Managers for the Dowd YMCA and on the diversity and international committees for the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He has traveled to Nigeria,the Congo, Liberia and Kenya. He joined Queens in August 2006, and writes a regular career blog for Queens and a career-advice column for "Pride Magazine."
His involvement at Queens has included participation on the Retention Committee; IDEAL Council; Campus Employment Task Force; Marketing Committee; the Peer Mentor Program; the Careers in Transition Planning Committee and the Search Committee for the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Bill Means teaches the World of Work, Transition to Work and Professional Internship courses at Queens.
