Jon Pineda is the author of the memoir “Sleep in Me” (University of Nebraska Press, 2011), and two collections of poetry, “The Translator's Diary” (New Issues Poetry & Prose, 2008), winner of the Green Rose Prize, and “Birthmark” (Southern Illinois University Press, 2004), winner of the 2003 Crab Orchard Award. The recipient of a Virginia Commission for the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship, he attended James Madison University and the MFA program in Creative Writing at Virginia Commonwealth University. His work has appeared in numerous literary journals, including the Crab Orchard Review, Poetry Northwest, Prairie Schooner, among others. He has been on faculty at the Kundiman Asian American Poets Retreat, held on campus at the University of Virginia. He also teaches in the English Department at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
