Knight-Crane Convergence Laboratory

Knight-Crane Convergence LaboratoryKnight-Crane Convergence Laboratory

The Alpo Franssila & Marjorie Knight-Crane Convergence Laboratory was made possible by the extraordinary generosity of Alpo Franssila & Marjorie Knight Crane, class of 1990. This innovative learning space exists as a testament to the Knight School of Communication's commitment to digital media exploration and production, and reflects the valuable support of our talented alumni.

Completed and opened for use in Fall 2008, this learning space serves students pursuing degree work in Communication, Journalism and Digital Media, and related subject areas.  It has become a vibrant hub for the Knight School.

The laboratory includes:

  • 20 24-inch iMac computers with a wide array of multimedia production software;
  • 3 50-inch wall-mounted televisions which create a true "newsroom" environment;
  • LCD projection and Smart board technology;
  • Color printers;
  • Videoconferencing capability; and,
  • Studio cameras and other related equipment.

The lab hosts classes throughout the day and evening, but is open for project-based student use through swipe-card access.
