With more than 35 years of experience, Ken Gepfert has been an editor and reporter at leading newspapers and senior communications executive at a large corporation and public relations agency.
In 2007, he joined Luquire George Andrews in Charlotte, one of the Southeast’s leading advertising, marketing and public relations agencies. As a senior consultant in public relations, Ken has handled the communication needs of clients in fields ranging from financial services and higher education to healthcare and real estate.
In addition, he has managed financial and internal communication, and served as chief speechwriter, for the former First Union (now Wells Fargo).
As a journalist, Ken was an editor and reporter with The Wall Street Journal for 13 years in Charlotte, Atlanta, Brussels and New York. Ken also was a senior editor at The Charlotte Observer for seven years, aerospace reporter at the Los Angeles Times, editor and reporter for the Rocky Mountain News in Denver and editor and reporter for the Associated Press in Florida. His favorite job as an editor was working with young reporters.
From 2009-2011, he served as co-faculty adviser for the Queens Chronicle.
Ken moved to Charlotte from his native California in 1982. After raising their three daughters in Charlotte, Ken and his wife Nancy lived in Europe and New York for five years before returning to North Carolina to be closer to their daughters and four grandchildren.
