Zachary White , Ph.D.

Dr. White’s research and teaching focus on communication theory and practices that help people manage meaning and communicate health and life experiences amidst high levels of uncertainty and stress. Dr. White teaches a variety of courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including Introduction to Communication, Health Communication, Health and Illness Narratives, Mediated Constructions of Health, the Mediated Self and Changing Relationships, Social Support and Disclosure, and Mediated Constructions of the Life Cycle.

Dr. White has served as a communication consultant for organizations and practitioners in the health care field.  His research examines end-of-life communication and the challenges encountered by professional caregivers, volunteers, family members, and employees.  Dr. White holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University and is the founder of "The Unprepared Caregiver", a popular blog and resource for caregivers.
