Nanine Hartzenbusch teaches photojournalism at the Knight School of Communication.
She has 30 years of experience working as a staff photographer and photo editor for The Associated Press, Reuters, New York Newsday and The Baltimore Sun. She now has her own business working on assignment for editorial clients including The New York Times and The Washington Post, and also specializes in documentary-style family portraiture. Nanine teaches photography workshops and mentors students.
Nanine has won several awards for her photojournalistic work. In 1992 she was part of the team that won the Pulitzer Prize in Spot News Reporting for coverage of the Union Square fatal subway crash.
She serves as Publicity Chair on the Board of The Charity League of Charlotte, an intergenerational women's philanthropy that supports Charlotte area children in need.
