Greetings! I am a new faculty member here at Queens University of Charlotte. I'm excited to be here and look forward to engaging in research, service, and teaching within the Charlotte community.
I am primarily interested in the ways governments and citizens engage one another through communication technologies. I explore this topic through mixed-method approaches. I try and take a wholistic approach to research by examining large scale online data using computational social science resources with contextual cues provided by qualitative methodological approaches.
I think the best way to transfer my research into teaching and service is through active dialogue with the community at Queens University and the region. I plan to expand this aspect of my work by working with businesses, government and non-profits to understand their needs for workers in a digital work environment. That understanding will translate into how my courses are designed, which will hopefully give students the basic knowledge they need to get jobs and also to be critical thinkers as citizens.
