School picnic

Each spring, the Knight School of Communication hosts a picnic for all communication students, faculty and staff. This year's picnic was especially exciting because it honored the new digital citizen trainers.

Dean Van King welcomed everyone in attendance and recognized several key people in the Knight School, including Dr. Daina Nathaniel, who received tenure, and our newest staff member, Bob Page, who will work on the Knight Vision website.

During the picnic, Lambda Pi Eta awarded its annual Faculty Service Award in recognition of exemplary service to the Knight School of Communication Undergraduate programs in the 2011-2012 academic year. This year, Chapter President Sara Beth Jones, and Vice Presidents Emily Koll and Anneka Van Scoyoc presented the award to Dr. John A. McArthur.

Also recognized during the picnic were the students who completed at least 10 hours of training to become the Knight School's first digital citizen trainers. These students were each given an official Knight Vision Trainer shirt and entered into a drawing to win an iPad. Freshman Danielle Williams was the lucky winner of the iPad.

Following the picnic, graduating Master's students presented their organizational and strategic communication capstone projects. Thank you to everyone who came and made this year the best picnic to date.
