BUSN/ODEV 600 Leadership Development
The McColl School's focus on leadership takes students beyond the typical classroom experience.
In the Professional MBA and MS in Organization Development programs, leadership development includes a core course made up of four class seminars that span over two semesters. It provides students with a unique opportunity to interact with seasoned executives, professional coaches, and a network of Charlotte business professionals through a series of targeting elements.
An Introduction to Leadership examines leadership, not only in theory but in practice. What is your vision for yourself as a leader? What values define your leadership style?
Develop Self-Awareness through a combination of personality/psychosometric testing and a custom 360 evaluation that will empower you with knowledge of your strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for development.
The Community Leadership Project provides hands on participation and immersion with local/regional non-profits and community issues. We believe that an organization is only as strong as the community it is within. Active participation in the Charlotte community can help you develop important leadership skills.
Through our Pro-bono Coaching Program you spend 4-6 sessions with one of more than 60 executive and professional coaches who volunteer their services to our students.
Access to Networking Mentors provides you with the opportunity to build relationships and expand your contacts in the Charlotte business community.
The McColl School's Executives-In-Residence are high-level executives who bring the realities of business leadership to life for our students. They have established reputations as effective leaders, have substantial experience to share, and are willing to share that experience with our graduate students in small group discussions.
The BB&T Distinguished Leaders-in-Action Lecture Series brings distinguished leaders from diverse industries, backgrounds and leadership styles on campus to interact with students in a candid and inspiring forum.
At the core of this experience are the 3 Cs: Competence, from the organizational aspects of business to management and relationships; Character, inspiring ethical leadership and trust among colleagues; and Commitment to Community, encouraging balance between individual goals and the common good.
