Les Hudson is Professor of Strategy and the Wayland H. Cato, Jr. Chairman in Leadership at the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte, where he teaches Strategic Management, both as a capstone course for seniors and as a strategy course for MBA students.
Dr. Hudson is currently the Presiding Director of American Electric Power Company in Columbus, Ohio, and chairman of its Human Resources and Compensation Committee. He is also a director of American National Bank in Virginia and is chairman of its Human Resources Committee.
After retiring from the chief executive officer position of Dan River, Inc., he earned his doctorate degree at Clemson University. He served as chairman, president and CEO of two textile companies, one listed on the New York Stock Exchange, and one privately owned.
Prior to joining the faculty at Queens, he taught business strategy at Clemson at the graduate and undergraduate levels. His research interests include competition, entrepreneurship, corporate governance and strategic decisions concerning capacity expansion.
He has a bachelor of arts degree from Furman University, and an MBA degree from the Moore School, University of South Carolina.
