Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence (CAFÉ)
The overall mission of the Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence (CAFÉ) is to support and assist Queens faculty in enhancing, assessing, and documenting their own teaching effectiveness and the quality of their students' learning and intellectual development. To those ends, CAFÉ supports and assists faculty in designing and developing curriculum, teaching efficiently, maintaining currency in relevant research and evidence-based good practice, and in applying and contributing to the scholarship of teaching and learning and educational research. CAFÉ also helps Queens faculty to share and communicate their many accomplishments in teaching, scholarship and research widely within and beyond the University.
To achieve its mission, CAFÉ provides Queens' faculty with technological resources and expert consultation to support diverse teaching and learning strategies; offers training in innovative pedagogical techniques, experiential learning, and classroom strategies; helps faculty gain internal and/or external support for teaching innovations, scholarship and research; and fosters the development and documentation of assessable outcomes for faculty teaching effectiveness and student success across the University. Throughout the year, CAFÉ sponsors a variety of professional development programs, activities and events, drawing upon the experience and skills of Queens' faculty and staff, as well as that of external consultants and experts.
