China/Hong Kong
The world's most populous country, the eastern-Asian nation of China is a historical wonderland. In fact, it's considered the world's oldest continuous civilization.
“Our time in Xi’an ended with a sampling of various delicious dumplings which have been developed into an art here including dumplings in the shape of different animals.”
China's government also controls Hong Kong, one of the world's most densely populated cities, which regained sovereignty from Britain in 1997. Hong Kong kept autonomy in most affairs, though.
Over its long history, China has significantly influenced its neighbors in eastern Asia, and contributed countless major inventions.
