A sampling of destinations visited in Germany, part of Queens’ Faculty-Led Program of central and alpine Europe, which also includes time in Austria, the Czech Republic and Hungary.

In Germany, you’ll journey through this important European country’s transformation from war-torn chaos to peaceful economic power. Your study will include time spent in some of Germany’s most notable places of history, art, science and nature.

Deutsches Museum Deutsches Museum
The world’s biggest science and technology museum, this Munich site sits on an island in the Isar River. Its collection includes the first automobile.
Brandenburg Gate Brandenburg Gate
The only surviving gate people used to enter Berlin. In the days of divided east and west Germany, the grand structure was integrated into the Berlin Wall.
Checkpoint Charlie Checkpoint Charlie
The museum exhibit explores the attempts of East Germans to escape from behind the Berlin Wall, as well as other aspects of the period when the country was divided.
Hofbrau Haus Hofbrau Haus
One of Munich’s oldest breweries and beer gardens.
Dachau Dachau
The first German concentration camp, which became a model for the others to follow.
The Rhine The Rhine
One of Europe’s longest rivers, the Rhine flows for about 766 miles and tells the story of Germany’s similarly long history.
