These additional online resources can help you get ready for your studies in Italy. The comprehensive collection of sites guides you in learning more and testing your knowledge.

Check Country Profiles and Other Travel Links, where you can find lots of information on most any country in the world - including Italy.

To learn the ins and outs of Italian culture and how it differs from ours, look at the incredibly detailed Countries and their Cultures. You'll find information on everything from national symbols and ethnic relations to etiquette and food.  Another great site is Kwintessential, which gives insight into some of the basics in terms of cultural attitudes and values.

The Italian Government Tourist Board has a site with links to museums, details on different regions, travel tips and more.

Italy Magazine - "the No. 1 Magazine for Lovers of all things Italian," covers a broad range of topics.  You might not be in the market for a property in Italy or planning your wedding there, but you can find articles on current events and explore Italy's regions.

An illustrated guide to the sacred places, art, religious architecture and sites, from Amalfi to Venice, is on Sacred Destinations.

For current events, check out the Corriere della sera - click "translate this page" for its English-language version.  Italy's most prominent newspaper will keep you up to date on the latest happenings in the country. RomePost.com also has articles on politics, culture, sports and more.

For the tech-savvy, Italy Guides site has audio downloads and virtual tours of most of the great architecture, museums and churches, with lovely pictures and brief descriptions.

Florence

Check out the entire collection of the Uffizi Gallery, along with biographical information on the artists, at Virtual Uffizi. The Florence Art Guide has information on all of the city's important historical and artistic monuments and museums.  For the other 70 museums, MuseumsinFlorence gives detailed information and images.

Rome

Vatican Museum Online has pictures, virtual tours and more. The great Borghese Gallery site has pictures and information on artists and their works - click the "Translate" button for English-language content. There's also a very detailed site on the Catacombs of Rome.

Venice

Guggenheim Museum has information on the collection housed in Peggy Guggenheim's former palace along the Grand Canal.
