Plaza de Armas Plaza de Armas
The core of sprawling Lima, Peru’s capital, this Spanish-Style city square is a window onto the city’s yesterday and today.
Cuzco Cuzco
Capital of the Inca Empire, its stone streets and walls date back five centuries.
Sacsayhuaman Sacsayhuaman
A fortress sitting above the city of Cuzco. Legend holds that Cuzco was laid out to form the shape of a puma, a sacred Inca animal, with Sacsayhuanman representing the head.
Pisac Pisac
Peruvian village on the Urubamba River, known for its Inca ruins and artisan market.
Arequipa Arequipa
The second largest city in Peru is known for its white volcanic-rock buildings from the Spanish colonial area.
Lake Titicaca Lake Titicaca
High up in the Andes Mountains — 12,500 feet —  this lake sits on the border of Peru and Bolivia.
Machu Picchu Machu Picchu
Ruins of an Inca estate abandoned when the Spaniards invaded the Inca Empire. It sits so high up on a mountain that it still can’t be seen from below.
