Check the Country Profiles page to find websites where you can browse lots of information on most any country in the world - including Vietnam. 

Frommer's has detailed information on sites, self-guided walking tours, restaurants and more. Search for the city or country you want to learn about, and start digging.

Lonely Planet has lots of good information. Click on a continent, then the "Places" link, followed by the country.

Another good site is Destination 360. Use the map to click on a continent, and then choose the country you want to explore, or go directly to the country by choosing from the list below the map. For each country, you'll find an overview, articles on cities and excellent coverage of the most visited sites.

To learn the ins and outs of Vietnamese culture and how it differs from ours, look at the incredibly detailed Countries and their Cultures website. It has information on everything from national symbols and ethnic relations to etiquette and food. Another great site for cultural insights into customs, clothing, music and more is Vietnam-Culture.com.  And Kwintessential gives insights into some of the basics on cultural attitudes and values.

Probably the most comprehensive site for information on Vietnam is vietventures.com, with pages on history, food, culture, travel tips and more. Check this page on the economic and political history of Vietnam from the San Jose State Department of Economics. 

The VietnamTourism.com site is full of information, but be sure not to miss the "County and People" pages, where you can learn about the country, its culture, food and more. The Vietnamese Embassy in the United States also has a site with articles on history, culture, trade and public services. GuideVietnam.com has articles on weather, money, sites and a map with links to more information about Vietnam's cities and destinations. Another site with information on each of the cities you'll visit is vietnamonline.com.
