Scholarships
Several scholarships are available to Queens students who want a study abroad program tailored more specifically to their needs. These scholarships go to students who've reached beyond the minimum requirements; so initiative, as well as good grades, count heavily toward getting this financial assistance to travel and study overseas.
Queens awards the following scholarships annually to a select few students:
The John Belk International Internship Scholarships - Scholarships of up to $2,500 each are available to qualified juniors who want to go overseas to complete their internships. Students arrange their own internships in collaboration with the Internships and Career Programs Office, and receive support for other arrangements through the John Belk International Program.
Class of 1958 International Scholarship Awards - Two $500 scholarships are awarded each year to students participating in John Belk International Program study tours. Students nominated by the faculty teaching their JBIP Prep course compose an essay discussing their preparation for the international experience and what they hope to learn from it. A committee selects the two students deemed to have done the most preparation for their international experience, and who will best represent Queens overseas.
Jo Dewitt International Adventure Fund - Two $500 scholarships are awarded each year to students participating in language-immersion or study-abroad programs. This fund rewards those who have actively created a unique international experience for themselves by extending their travels, undertaking service projects or by getting more closely in touch with the local culture.
