Goals & Priorities
Since its founding in 1857, Queens University of Charlotte has built a legacy of leadership and created a dynamic institution that is transforming lives with a personalized learning environment, innovative instructional approach and a full spectrum of educational programs.
Queens has grown significantly in 153 years, evolving from a small women's college in uptown Charlotte to a comprehensive university that provides its diverse co-educational student body with an array of undergraduate and graduate programs. Through the years, Queens has remained a source of pride for our alumni, students and friends.
Queens is currently following a five-year 2012 Strategic Plan that focuses on investments that will transform the campus and pave the way for innovative opportunities for its students. The Investing in Queens' Future Campaign provides strategic focus on the University's highest priorities to attract and retain high-quality students. The campaign seeks to meet the following goals and objectives:
- Facilities Initiatives - to address critical workforce needs, invest in technology and innovative learning spaces, and enhance the quality of our students' lives and the larger community.
- Endowed Scholarships, Programs and Centers - to enable Queens to provide students with engaging professors, personalized learning environments, innovative centers that promote exploration and global perspectives integrated across the curriculum. Key areas include Presidential Scholarships, programmatic support for the Wayland H. Cato, Jr. School of Education, the School of Communication, the Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning, the Center for Ethics & Religion, and the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership.
- Annual Scholarships, The Queens Fund and the McColl School Excellence Fund - to provide annual merit- and need-based scholarships for hundreds of deserving Queens students.
- Increase membership in the Thelma Albright Society -- to enable donors to make a lasting and meaningful difference in the world through legacy giving.
Generous donors who share our goals to recruit talented faculty, offer new courses, expand our acclaimed internship program, and create innovative centers for exploration and learning are partly responsible for Queens' tremendous success in recent years.
