Hayworth College
In 1979, the New College was inaugurated at Queens as a co-educational evening program designed for working adults. In 1995, New College was renamed in honor of Pauline Lewis Hayworth, a Queens trustee and alumna (class of 1950). She was a strong supporter of educational programs and scholarships for adult students.
The Hayworth College provides undergraduate education within a liberal arts framework to non-traditional students in the Charlotte community. Students can begin or complete an undergraduate degree, earn a second bachelors degree or simply take specific courses. Unlike larger schools, Queens is sensitive to the time constraints and other obligations of adult students. Hayworth College students can manage their educational path by enrolling in classes during the day or evening or via online/hybrid.
A gift to The Queens Fund for the Hayworth College will support merit- and need- based scholarships for non-traditional students.
