Student Insurance

Queens University of Charlotte requires all full time traditional undergraduate and Presbyterian School of Nursing students to carry individual health insurance. All full-time undergraduate students enrolled as a Traditional Undergraduate, and students affiliated with the Presbyterian School of Nursing (PSN), will be automatically enrolled under the Queens Plan, which is provided by United Healthcare.

Full-time traditional undergraduates and PSN students will be billed each semester for this coverage. If students have comparable coverage and wish to waive coverage under the Queens Plan, they must submit an Online Waiver form for the spring by January 30, 2014 deadline. Upon receipt of a completed Online Waiver, health insurance charges will be removed from the tuition bill.

To complete the Online Waiver, you must be registered for the Spring 2014 term. Updated registrations are provided to United Healthcare weekly on Monday starting the first week of December. Please wait until the week following your registration to visit https://studentcenter.uhcsr.com/ and enter your school name 'Queens University of Charlotte.' It is important to remember that the Online Waiver must be re-submitted each year. Print a copy of your confirmation for your records.

The Queens Plan policy term is from August 15, 2013 to August 14, 2014. The cost is $1,440 annually, which is billed in two equal installments per year. The Queens Spring Plan term is from January 1, 2014 until August 14, 2014 and has a prorated amount of $908.

A benefit summary is available below and the full plan is available by visiting United Healthcare or by visiting the Queens Student Health and Wellness Center. Please see the Student Health Insurance Update for 2013-14 below for important information regarding plan changes to comply with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).

Navigating the health care system can be intimidating. Traditional undergraduate students are invited to contact the Health and Wellness Center on Wellesley Avenue with any questions or concerns at 704 337-2220.

If you are a new student-athlete to Queens, access the Athletic Training website and all the forms necessary to clear for athletic participation.  There is required Athletic Injury Insurance for every athlete that is mandatory.  The annual cost is $274, which is also billed in two equal installments per year.

Health insurance is now available for adult undergraduate students enrolled in the per credit hour program and graduate students through United Healthcare. Adult students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per academic term. For more information and/or to enroll, please visit www.UHCSR.com or contact them directly at 800 767-0700.
