Living On Campus

Living on Campus

A Community of Opportunity... make friends and broaden your horizons by walking down the hall, you will meet different people from different areas.  You'll form study groups and join intramural teams.  It will not take long to make new friends and memories that will last a lifetime.

Opportunities for involvement are among the best advantages of on-campus living.  Movies, trips, theatrical and musical performances, guest speakers, sports, and impromptu gatherings are just a few of the many activities waiting for you and your friends.  Additionally, the Residence Hall staff and students host social, cultural, and educational programs to enrich the quality of life.

We encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities. Your participation and leadership will help you create an environment where friendships flourish, new experiences abound, and people feel at home.

Take the lead...
Living on campus will provide you with many opportunities to take the lead. Through these experiences, you will be prepared to be an active leader in your career and community. There are numerous opportunities to become involved at Queens!

Achieve Academic Success... make better grades
Living on campus can play an important part in higher Grade Point Averages (GPAs).
How can living on campus help raise GPAs?  Here are just a few ways:

  • You will have the chance to live with people of common interests and majors.
  • You will have a personal, high-speed, Internet connection in your room.  Additionally, easy access to a residence hall computer lab or campus labs.
  • All Residence Halls observe nightly quiet hours to create an environment conducive to studying.
  • Residence Hall staff members organize programs that enhance and develop necessary skills for academic success.

A Better University Experience... the research tells it all!
National research indicates that living on campus contributes to greater overall satisfaction with and success in college.  This research shows that students living on campus:

  • are more satisfied with their living environments
  • are more likely to graduate and to enter graduate school
  • meet more diverse people
  • are exposed to a wider range of ideas and cultures
  • develop greater artistic interests
  • develop strong interpersonal skills
  • finish college in less time
  • have more contact with faculty and other students
  • are more likely to have greater self esteem

Less hassle with monthly bills...
Live on campus and pay a competitive price for housing and meals.  You will not have to worry about extra utility bills, first/last months rent, or subletting your apartment over the summer.  All of your bills for the semester are included in one fee charged to your student account.  No surprise expenses and no chasing down roommates for their part of the rent.  Bottom line, you probably won't find a better value added experience for the money.

A great location...
Where else can you live where you can roll out of bed at 7:50 a.m. and still make it to an 8:00 a.m. class?  When you live on campus, you avoid the fight with traffic and the hassle of finding a parking place.  Living on campus puts you within walking distance of your classes, labs, the libraries, theaters, concerts, and sports facilities.  You will save hours weekly by living on campus - time used to your academic and social advantage.

It's all about YOU... help make college life easier, more comfortable, and safer
Live on campus and have a comfortable and safe home away from home.  Enjoy the convenience of being close to classes, the library, and recreation facilities.  Because your security is a top priority, the hall entrances are locked 24-hours a day, campus police and residence hall staff help secure buildings and enforce safety and rules each evening, Campus Police patrol the campus 24 hours a day and have staff available to provide walking escorts across campus after dark.
