Update: Peace and Reconciliation Trip

In May, the Chapel at Queens took 7 students and 4 staff to Northern Ireland on a Christian mission trip studying reconciliation and conflict resolution. With the guidance of the Presbyterian Church, we focused on a service learning model closely mirroring Queens' emphasis on education and service. For the educational aspect, we partook in a walking/driving tour of Belfast, visited organizations working towards solidifying peace (Corrymeela, an Integrated school, etc) and met with people who experienced life during the violence. The second part of the trip will then be service oriented with a physical work project such as painting, gardening or cleaning up in low income area and possibly even leading a vacation Bible school.
