What
Join McColl School Alumni, EMBA, PMBA and MSOD students and friends of the school for our annual spring Leadership Challenge. Dr. Will Sparks, associate professor of management science and director of the McColl School's Master of Science in Organization Development (MSOD) and Office of Leadership Initiatives and Dr. Norris Frederick, director of the Center for Ethics and Religion and professor of philosophy at Queens University of Charlotte will provide an exciting debate examining the Moral Foundations of Capitalism. The debate will provide a philosophical perspective for discussing the impact of free markets, entrepreneurship and capitalism in the development of the U.S. economy.  In the afternoon, we'll head outside to put our leadership skills to work in teams with a whitewater rafting experience.  We'll conclude the day with a cocktail reception overlooking the stunning landscape at the U.S. National White Water Center.

This event is free-of-charge for our guests, including the cost of the associated reading, Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, which the School will provide.  The book can be picked up at the McColl School of Business in the Graduate Admissions Office (Sykes 120).

*This program will include a historical analysis of the morality of capitalism and a free society. In addition to this macro-perspective, this discussion will examine the role of individual behavior in the market. This examination will focus on the philosophical underpinnings of human behavior, including 'freewill vs. determinism,' responsibility and accountability, epistemology and knowledge, and the nature of reality and logic in decision-making.
