Since 1982, the McColl School of Business has provided an opportunity for faculty, staff and McColl School students to participate in a weekend leadership experience at the Wildacres Retreat, located in the western North Carolina mountains near Little Switzerland, NC. In 2009, BB&T provided a generous gift to cover the cost for students in the Professional MBA and MS in Organization Development programs. Each fall, students are encouraged to participate in the intellectual and outdoor leadership challenge at Wildacres.
Explore the moral and philosophical foundations of Capitalism
Program participants are provided pre-reading, including a copy of Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" to prepare for a lively debate with Dr. Will Sparks and Dr. Norris Frederick. Participant teams break out to discuss each side of the debate and further explore the underpinnings of capitalism.
Challenge yourself in an Outdoor Leadership Course
On Saturday, participants head outside with the Vertical, S.A. team from Santiago Chile. This distinguished team has completed multiple expeditions to Everest, K2, and Lotse and will take you through one of their most challenging experiences. Then participant teams will hit the outdoors for an expedition of their own with the Vertical team.
