Event Details

Dance Central showcases dancers trained in the classical disciplines of Diaghilev Ballet and Humphrey-Weidman modern dance technique. The group has been performing in the Charlotte area for 26 years as part of Central Piedmont Community College. This performance at Queens is made possible by funding from the Hunter-Hamilton Love of Teaching Award, as designated by Phyllis Pharr, an Associate Professor of Physical Education in the College of Arts & Sciences.

The co-founder of Dance Central, modern dancer, choreographer, and teacher, MaryAnn Mee will also offer a master class open to the public. Mee has trained numerous student dancers who have gone on to professional careers throughout the country in both ballet and modern dance. She was formerly a principal dancer for Charles Weidman, one of the pioneers of modern dance in America known for developing a technique that embraces gravity rather than resisting it. Contact Laura Brown, 704-337-2232, with questions.

The Hadley Theater is located on Queens' main campus at the back wing of Myers Park Traditional School, 2132 Radcliffe Avenue.

Performance Dates and Times:

Performance: Dec. 3 and 4 at 8 p.m.; Dec. 5 at 2:30 p.m.

Master Class: Dec. 4 at 1 p.m.
