Dr. Wei Guo, physics instructor, and UNC Charlotte's Yildrim Aktas published "Time Evolution of an Excited Atom's Position-Momentum Uncertainty" in the journal "Optics Communications." They found that due to atom-field interaction the position-momentum uncertainty of an atom can temporarily be lower than that of a free particle.
