The Italian Saxophone Quartet performs in major concert halls throughout the world, including Europe, Russia, Japan and the United States. When it was formed in 1982, the Quartet brought together four of the most established soloists in their field: Federico Mondelci, sax soprano; Marco Gerboni, alto sax; Mario Marzi, tenor sax; and Massimo Mazzoni, sax baritono. The Quartet has won several chamber music competitions, including first prize in the "Premier Ancona" by Goffredo Petrassi. Their interpretations of contemporary music have also received special recognition. The group has recorded three CDs, including a CD on the Pentaphon label devoted to contemporary music.
