La Tanja Batiste, commonly referred to as "LT", is in her fourth season as the Head Athletic Trainer at Queens University. She joins the Royals staff after being the Assistant Athletic Trainer for Benedict College in Columbia, SC. In her position, she was able to work with Benedict’s 2003-2004 SIAC Tournament Championship teams for men’s/women’s basketball, and softball. While at Benedict, La Tanja was one of two certified athletic trainers responsible for 13 Div II sports, which has greatly prepared her for her new position.
Prior to working at Benedict, La Tanja received her Master’s Degree in Sports Medicine from Georgia State University in 2003. While attending Georgia State, she served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Walton High School in Marietta, GA, where she was responsible for coordinating the athletic training coverage for 15 student athletic trainers. She also worked as a volunteer athletic trainer with Atlanta’s Arena Football Team, the Georgia Force.
LaTanja received her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from Georgia Southern University in 2000. As an undergraduate student athletic trainer, La Tanja worked with the 1999 Div I-AA National Football Championship Team.

Rebecca Rich
Rebecca Rich has started her first year as the assistant athletic trainer here at Queens University. She gladly comes to our athletics staff from 4A Weddington High School in Matthews NC. While at Weddington, Rebecca worked as the Head athletic trainer, and Sports Medicine Teacher. She was privileged to work with many skilled and talented teams, many making their way into regional, and some into State play offs.
Before Rebecca started her professional career as an athletic trainer, she attended the State University of New York College at Cortland in Cortland NY for 2 years specializing in Athletic Training and Physical Education. She continued her education at Messiah College in Grantham PA, where she gained experience working with Division III nationally ranked field hockey, and men’s lacrosse teams, along with men’s and women’s cross country, and softball. She gained experience working with Dover High School as her senior internship. Being a newly certified athletic trainer Rebecca took a job with Central PA Rehabilitation Services being contracted out to Millersburg High School working as a physical therapy aide in the clinic and the head athletic trainer in the high school.
Rebecca received her Bachelors degree in Sports Medicine from Messiah College in 2005, and will begin working on her Masters in the spring of 2008.

Dr. Ellison is Board-Certified in Family Medicine and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Primary Care Sports Medicine. He currently practices at Riverbend Family Practice in Charlotte. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Carolinas Medical Center and went on to complete a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at CMC. During these years of training, he served as team physician for numerous teams from the high school to collegiate level, as well as providing event coverage for major sporting events throughout the area. Dr. Ellison received his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA and his medical degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. He currently serves as Co-Director of Athletic Training Services for CMC Sports Medicine and Special Events as well as team physician for several area high schools.
