Gonzalez, a former Royals volleyball player, finished her first season as an assistant coach here in 2006.  A Boca Raton, FL native, Gonzalez received the John H. Sykes Trustee Scholar, Outstanding Minority Scholar, and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in corporate communications and a minor in psychology at Queens.  As a senior, Gonzalez was voted team captain and most valuable player by her teammates.

Growing up an athlete, Gonzalez didn't have too look far for her role model. An Olympic Swimmer the elder Gonzalez represented his country of Ecuadorin the 1968 Olympics held in Mexico City, Mexico.  Gonzalez has two older sisters, and family that is loving, supportive, and a constant source of inspiration.
