The General Education Program at Queens and the Center for Latino Studies invites Barbara Sostaita. She will discuss Brujas, a New York City-based skateboarding and grassroots group comprised entirely of local Latino, black and indigenous women. This lecture shows how these women draw upon the practice of brujería to imagine better futures and conjure up spaces to bear witness to the pain, loss and trauma of (post)colonial experiences. This event is sponsored by a partnership with the General Education Program at Queens, The Center for Latino Studies and the Queens Learning Community entitled “Sounds, Movement and Selves.”
