The mission of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is to support, promote, and enhance teaching effectiveness and student learning, encourage scholarship of teaching and learning, communicate the importance of teaching and learning to both internal and external audiences, and serve as a catalyst for learner-centered education.
To accomplish this mission the Center will:
- Promote student learning as central to accomplishing the teaching/learning mission of the university,
- create fora in which faculty are informed of the wide variety of promising opportunities and strategies to enhance learning, research and other parts of academic life,
- provide practical and useful training, workshops and other resources to help faculty exploit those opportunities and strategies,
- support faculty efforts to assess their teaching effectiveness and integrate strategies to maximize student success,
- contribute to an academic advising platorm that ensures high-quality advising that includes career preparation,
- build widespread acknowledgement, both internally and externally, that Queens University of Charlotte is a leader in the thoughtful research, development and application of best practices in teaching and learning.
