Dear Presbyterian School of Nursing Class of 2008,

We all are looking forward to the upcoming occasion of your Commencement.  We know this is a special time for you, and we hope to make it an occasion to remember.  Please see the schedule of events listed below and mark your calendar accordingly.

ATTENDANCE
Because Commencement events require careful planning, we need to have your attendance confirmed.  If it is absolutely impossible for you to attend Commencement, you must notify the PSN Dean's Office,  in writing, no later than April 18. 

CLEARING YOUR ACCOUNT BY APRIL 18
Please be sure your student account balance is paid in full by April 18th if you wish to participate in graduation and/or receive your diploma.  If you have any concerns or questions, please visit with your Student Financial Services counselor in Jernigan 111.

SPECIAL NEEDS
If you or anyone in your family requires special seating or parking for the disabled, for Commencement, please send written notice to: Campus Police Department, 1900 Selwyn Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28274, indicating your needs by April 18.  Please be sure to provide your contact information.

ACADEMIC REGALIA
Cap and gown are required attire for Commencement.  If you do not already have a cap & gown, you must order them from the Student Store (704 337-2413).  You may pick up caps and gowns at the Student Store anytime beginning April 22. 

Appropriate attire with cap and gown recognizes tradition as well as warm weather.  Women should wear a dark colored dress or skirt; men should wear dark trousers.  Dark shoes are proper for all.  No loud or large earrings or corsages pinned to the gown.  There is a committee that will check for appropriate dress on graduation day.  The committee members are authorized to remove inappropriately dressed graduates from the procession.

COMMENCEMENT REHEARSAL
The Commencement rehearsal for ASN graduates will be held on Wednesday, April 30 at 2pm in Dana Auditorium, to familiarize you with procedures at Commencement.  Please bring your cap with you to rehearsal so we can practice the ceremony.

PICTURES
Class pictures will be taken on the steps of Belk Chapel at 1:20pm, May 1, immediately prior to line-up for Commencement. 

Individual photos will be taken of each graduate as they receive their diploma and again as they exit the stage with their diploma. Six weeks following the ceremony, proofs of all photos will be sent to the home address listed in the graduate's file and you will have the option to purchase these.
