Entrepreneurial Leadership Circle

Down

The mission of the Entrepreneurial Leadership Circle (ELC) is to support entrepreneurial education at the McColl School of Business at Queens and to foster an entrepreneurial spirit throughout the Carolinas. Through scholarship support, mentoring, coaching and other enrichment opportunities, the ELC encourages entrepreneurial ventures of all sizes in an effort to stimulate economic growth.

The ELC was founded in the early 90s by Hugh L McColl, Jr., and the late Dr. Billy O. Wireman. By 2003, the group began providing scholarship funds for McColl School students, and created additional membership benefits to add professional value to the ELC. Today, the ELC collectively represent a wide variety of industries and individuals. This diversity provides for unique and meaningful networking opportunities and creates a rich, dynamic benefit for the McColl School and its students.

"The ELC Scholarship has created access to advanced-level knowledge and skills for my career growth in the increasingly complex global business environment. Queens' comprehensive educational platform of technical knowledge, critical thinking, and leadership development have generated the pathway to a future of exciting potential. " - Carol Steen, MBA Student and ELC Scholarship Recipient

Joining the ELC

Our membership base is limited to 100 leading local entrepreneurs in the Carolinas, or those committed to fostering entrepreneurship in their businesses and beyond. Membership in the Entrepreneurial Leadership Circle is a $1,000 annual, tax-deductible gift ($825). Our funds provide fellowships for McColl School MBA candidates. Two fellowships—the Billy O. Wireman Fellowship and the ELC Development Award—are granted to at least seven students each year who demonstrate an interest and concentration in entrepreneurship. In addition, funds are used to provide member events and benefits.
