Both ethics and religion are at the core of the mission and vision of Queens. Ethics is central to Queens’ educational programs, from the Core Program in the College of Arts and Sciences to the service to the community provided by our education and nursing programs to the McColl School of Business emphasis on character and community. While it’s very important to think about ethical values and their implications, ultimately ethics is a matter of action, and Queens students, faculty and staff give much to the community.
Much of the impetus for Queens’ community service and mission work is rooted in strong religious faith and practice. Queens is home to a vital religious life, and continues to retain strong ties with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), as it has since Queens' inception in 1857. We invite you to join us for our weekly chapel services at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday during the academic year.
The pages on this website offer many resources for thought and practice. We hope you’ll take advantage of some of the educational opportunities the Center can offer. And please e-mail The Center for Ethics and Religion if you have ideas or suggestions.
Dr. Norris Frederick, J. A. Jones Chair of Philosophy and Religion Director, Center for Ethics and Religion
