Pell Grant
The Federal Pell Grant is awarded to students working toward a first baccalaureate degree using a federally-approved formula that takes into consideration family financial circumstances and the cost of education. The formula produces an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number that is used to determine the amount of the Federal Pell Grant. The maximum Pell Grant for 2007-2008 academic year is $4310. Students may apply by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
The Academic Competitiveness Grant is available to Federal Pell Grant eligible students who are US citizens, enrolled full-time and who have successfully completed a rigorous high school program, as determined by the state or local education agency and recognized by the Secretary of Education. Students may apply for the grant by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). First-year awards (for students graduating from high school after 1/1/2006) are valued at $750 annually. Second-year awards (for students graduating from high school after 1/1/2005) are valued at $1300 annually. Students advance to second-year status after completing 24 credit hours and two semesters of enrollment. Second-year eligible students must have maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART)
The National SMART Grant is available to Federal Pell Grant eligible students who are US citizens and enrolled full-time as a third or fourth year student in a baccalaureate degree program majoring in an eligible program. Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program (FSEOG)
The FSEOG is awarded to undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional financial need and are citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Priority is given to Federal Pell Grants recipients. The amount of the award is determined by need and the availability of funding. Students may apply for the grant by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Federal Work Study (FWS)
Federal Work-Study (FWS) provides part-time jobs for students with financial need allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. Students are considered for FWS by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). |
