Tentative Activities Calendar
[The events, dates, & times in this activities calendar are subject to alteration in case of unforeseen conditions such as museum closings, inclement weather, or changes in the travel schedule.]

Day 1   Be at the United Airlines check-in at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport no later than 5:00 am! [Allow plenty of time for security.]   Depart Charlotte 7:35 am, UA #7393, for Chicago (arrive 8:43 am).  Depart Chicago, 10:42 am, UA #835, for Shanghai. 

Day 2   Arrive Shanghai 1:55 pm.   Meet guide at airport and transfer to hotel; walkabout and orientation.  Boat ride on Huangpu River.

Day 3   Shanghai.  Leave hotel for visit to Shanghai Museum.  Afternoon: transfer to airport for flight to Kunming on MU #5818, leaving at 4:10 pm and arriving at 7:10 pm.  Transfer by bus to Dada Village.

Day 4   Kunming area—Dada village.  Habitat for Humanity project.

Day 5   Kunming area—Dada village.  Habitat for Humanity project.

Day 6   Kunming area—Dada village.  Habitat for Humanity project.  Transfer to Kunming for overnight stay.

Day 7   Kunming, morning transfer to airport for flight to Chengdu on MU #8662, leaving at 9:45 am and arriving at 10:55 am.  Afternoon: leave hotel for visit to Du Fu’s Thatched Cottage and Chengdu Panda Research Base.

Day 8   Chengdu.  Leave hotel for meeting with local High School students—Home stay with meals.

Day 9   Chengdu.  Return to school with Chinese students.  Transfer to Mt. Emei by bus.  Hike to Natural Monkey Habitat in Qingyin Ge.  Continue to Wannian Monastery.  Overnight at Monastery.

Day 10   Chengdu.  Transfer back to Chengdu.  Afternoon:  Explore Chengdu.  Evening: Hot Pot dinner.

Day 11   Chengdu.  Transfer from hotel to airport for flight to Lhasa on CA #4403, leaving at 7:50 am and arriving at 10:00 am.  Transfer to hotel for rest.

Day 12   Lhasa.  Leave hotel for morning visit to Potala Palace.  Afternoon: visit Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Square.
 
Day 13   Lhasa.  Day trip to visit to Ganden Monastery and stop to visit Tibetan family
                  
Day 14   Lhasa.  Leave hotel for morning visit to  Drepung Monastery.  Afternoon: free time.  Evening: Tibetan Dinner and Traditional Dance show.

Day 15   Lhasa.  Morning pick up from hotel, transfer to airport and departure for Beijing, on CA #4111, leaving at 4:05 pm and arriving at 9:35 pm. 

Day 16   Beijing.  Leave hotel for morning visit to Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City.  Evening:  Beijing Opera and Acrobatics show.

Day 17   Beijing.  Leave hotel for day trip to the Great Wall. 

Day 18   Beijing.  Leave hotel for morning visit of Temple of Heaven.  After lunch, leave hotel with luggage for Beijing airport.   Depart Beijing, 4:20 pm, UA #850, for Chicago, arriving 4:17 pm.  Depart Chicago 6:10 pm, UA #7389, for Charlotte, arriving 9:11 pm.
