Tentative Activities Calendar

Day 1: 
Arrive Munich, 7:50 am.  Transfer to Prague via coach.  After hotel check-in, Prague walkabout & orientation: Wenceslaus Square, New Town, Old Town (the Astronomical Clock), Charles Bridge.

Day 2: 
Prague:  9:00 am, leave for Jewish Quarter.  Afternoon: Convent of St. Agnes 
  
Day 3:
 Prague:  8:15 am, leave hotel for tour of Prague Castle complex: St. Vitus Cathedral, Royal Palace (for defenestration), St. George’s Basilica, Golden Lane (Kafka at #22).   Afternoon: EXPLORE PRAGUE: St. Agnes’ Convent, Old Town Hall Tower, chamber music concert, Sternberk Palace Art Museum of the National Gallery (aka European Art Museum), Museum of the City of Prague, National Gallery, Veletrzni Palace (20th century works), National Technical Museum (awesome displays), Dvorak, Smetana, & Mozart museums, Loreto Palace, various other churches, galleries.

Day 4:
 Prague:  8:15 am, leave hotel with luggage for coach transfer to Budapest.  After hotel check-in, Budapest walkabout and orientation: Vorosmarty Square, Vaci Utca, Great Market Hall.

Day 5:
Budapest:  8:00 am, leave hotel for Buda and Castle Hill:  Chain Bridge, Royal Palace, Fishermen’s Bastion, Matthias Church, St. Mary Magdalene Church, etc.  Afternoon: EXPLORE BUDAPEST: Imre Varga Collection (sculpture), Cave Church, Great Market Hall, City Park, Hungarian State Opera, Great Synagogue, Holocaust Memorial, Hungarian National Museum

Day 6:
Budapest:  8:30 am, leave hotel for tour of Pest and Andrassy Street: Heroes Square, House of Terror, State Opera House, St. Istvan’s Basilica, Parliament, Holocaust Memorial Center.  Afternoon: EXPLORE BUDAPEST

Day 7:
Budapest:  8:00 am, leave hotel with luggage for coach transfer to Vienna.  After hotel check-in, Vienna walkabout and orientation. 

Day 8:
Vienna, 8:45 am, leave hotel for visit to Freud House and/or KunstHausWien.  Afternoon: visit Opera, Monument against War and Fascism, and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. 

Day 9:
Vienna: 9:00 am, leave hotel for Schloss Schönbrunn (palace and gardens).  Afternoon: EXPLORE VIENNA: Hofburg (Treasury, Imperial Apartments), Neue Burg (outstanding musical instruments of the composers & Hapsburgs, armor, etc.), Haus der Musik, Museum of Modern Art, Albertina Museum, Schatzkammer, Heeresgeschichtliches Museum (military – Sarajevo assassination auto), Naturhistoriches Museum, Mozart House, Kaisergruft [Capuchin Crypt], Lipizzaner Museum, Hundertwasser House, Belvedere Palace.

Day 10: 
Vienna: 9:20 am, leave hotel for Kunsthistorisches Museum.  Afternoon: EXPLORE VIENNA –ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITIES: see above for options.
 
Day 11:
Vienna: 8:15 am, leave hotel with luggage for coach transfer to Salzburg via Melk. After visit to Benedictine Abbey and Museum, continue to Salzburg.  After hotel check-in, Salzburg walkabout and orientation

Day 12:
Salzburg: 9:30 am, leave hotel for Salzburg walkabout: Kapuzinerberg, Mirabell Palace & Gardens, the Altstadt, Mozart’s birthplace, Salzburg Dom, St. Peter's Cemetery, Stiftskirche St. Peter, open-air market at Kollegienkirche. Afternoon:  visit to Hohensalzburg Fortress.   

Day 13:
Salzburg:  9:00 am, day-trip to visit Halstadt and Salt Mines.

Day 14:
Salzburg: 9:45 am, leave hotel with luggage for coach transfer to Munich.  After hotel check-in, Munich walkabout and orientation.

Day 15:
Munich: 9:15 am, leave hotel for Dachau. 

Day 16:
Munich: 9:00 am, leave hotel for Alte Pinakotheke.  Afternoon: EXPLORE MUNICH –ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITIES: Peterskirche, Frauenkirche, Neue Pinakotheke, Olympiapark, Pinakothek der Moderne, Lenbachhaus, BMW Museum, etc.

Day 17:
Munich: 9:20 am, leave hotel for Deutsches Museum and English Garden. Afternoon: EXPLORE MUNICH –ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITIES: Peterskirche, Frauenkirche, Neue Pinakotheke, Olympiapark, Pinakothek der Moderne, Lenbachhaus, BMW Museum, etc.

Day 18:
Munich: Early Rising!! for return to Charlotte.
