100% of Queens University of Charlotte students participate in career internships... why not do yours abroad? This is a unique opportunity to have a 10-to-12-week professional internship with a corporation or organization in another country, through the John Belk International Program.
Interns live and work in some of the world's most dynamic cities, and have regular direct contact with a foreign culture and society. These are just a few of Queens students' recent internships:
- Amnesty International — Wellington, New Zealand
- Bank of America — London, England
- Caritas (a charitable social services organization) — Rostock, Germany
- France Langue — Nice, France
- The German CDU Fraktion — Mecklenburg, Germany
- Habitat For Humanity — Christchurch, New Zealand
- The Half Moon Theatre — London, England
- Heidrick & Struggles — Barcelona, Spain
- The Instituto de Biotecnología,
Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in Cuernavaca
- An insurance/actuarial firm in Klagenfurt, Austria
- Kings College School of Medicine — London, England
- The Lilliput Press — Dublin, Ireland
- Philipp Holzmann and its subsidiaries — Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Paris and Madrid
- PricewaterhouseCoopers — Madrid, Spain
- Royal Shakespeare Company — Stratford-upon-Avon, England
- Shakespeare's Globe Theatre — London, England
- Social welfare organizations in Cochabamba, Bolivia
- The Wall Street Journal Europe — Brussels, Belgium
- The Victoria School (for handicapped children) — Poole, Dorset, England
- This program is open to students in all majors.
- Interns will be selected by Queens faculty and administrators on the basis of outstanding scholarship (minimum GPA of 3.50), language preparation, an extensive written application (including a clear statement of objectives), and recommendations attesting to character, adaptability, and maturity.
- The costs to the student vary with the internship and location, and applicants must be prepared to assume all expenses not covered by the internship budget.
- Important note: Students who wish to apply for a John Belk International Internship should indicate the Internship program as their first choice on the Belk Program application, but should also select one of the other JBIP programs as a second choice.
- Applications for the 2006 summer internship program will be available in the Belk Program Office in May 2005 and must be returned by August 2, 2005. Interested students would do well to have a conference with the Belk Program Director.
